The Department of Spanish Philology and the Department of Department of Spanish Language and Literature Teaching at the University of Valencia are pleased to announce the 13th  International Conference of the Spanish Society of Linguistic Historiography (Sociedad Española de Historiografía Lingüística, SEHL), which will take place at the University of Valencia (Valencia, Spain) from the 26th to the 29th of April 2022.

The Spanish Society of Linguistic Historiography came to begin in 1995, aiming to promote and disseminate the study of the History of Language Sciences through the epistemological evolution of its different subjects, with special attention to in the Hispanic world. Since then, the Society has had a pivotal role in facilitating the academic dialogue between researchers interested in the field of Linguistic Historiography.

The continuous efforts of the Society to meet its aims have materialised in the past 25 years in twelve international conferences, held every two years: A Coruña (1997), León (1999), Vigo (2001), La Laguna (2003 ), Murcia (2005), Cádiz (2007), Vila-Real (2009), Madrid (2011), Córdoba (2013), Cáceres (2015), Buenos Aires (2017) and Forlì (2019). The Proceedings of these Conferences, together with the papers published in the bi-annual SEHL Bulletin, are considered essential works in the area of historiographical studies with contributions from researchers from national and international universities.

This 13th Conference will be an opportunity to celebrate the Society’s 25th Anniversary and will represent an opportunity to reflect on the attainments achieved during this time, as well as on the challenges and potential new paths for the future of the discipline.
